Privacy, in plain language.
Effective July 5, 2026 · Applies to the Little Knots iOS app
The short version: Little Knots collects nothing. Your memories live on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking — we run no servers and never see your data.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you put into Little Knots — children's names and birthdays, memories, dates, quotes, photos, and videos — is stored in a database on your device. If your device is signed into iCloud, iOS syncs that database to your personal iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database) so your memories survive a lost phone and appear on your other devices.
That iCloud data belongs to your Apple Account, is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest, and is subject to Apple's privacy policy. We — the developer — have no access to it. Little Knots has no servers of its own.
Sharing with your partner and family
If you invite someone (a Little Knots Pro feature), sharing happens through Apple's iCloud sharing — the same mechanism as shared Notes or Photos albums. Only the people you explicitly invite can see your family's memories, and only after they accept. Depending on the permission you grant, they can either add memories too or just follow along.
You can stop sharing at any time from inside the app, which ends participants' access. Invited participants see the shared memories under their own iCloud account; we still see nothing.
Photos and videos
Little Knots uses Apple's photo picker, which shows the app only the items you select — it never gets access to your whole photo library. Selected photos and videos are stored with your memories, on device and in your iCloud, like everything else.
Notifications
Reminders are optional and generated locally on your device. Nothing about them leaves your phone. You can turn them off any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Little Knots Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your name, payment details, or billing address. The app checks your subscription status on-device through Apple's StoreKit framework.
What we don't do
- No accounts — there is nothing to sign up for.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs — the app contains no third-party code at all.
- No advertising — and no ad identifiers.
- No tracking — as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency, and in the everyday sense too.
- No selling or sharing of data — we have no data to sell.
Little Knots' App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected.”
Children's privacy
Little Knots is made for parents and guardians, not for children. The app records information about your children only because you write it down, and it stays within your own iCloud and the people you invite. We do not collect personal information from anyone — children included.
Deleting your data
- Delete any memory, quote, or child inside the app — deletions sync everywhere.
- Stop sharing at any time to end participants' access.
- Remove the app's iCloud data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
- Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated first and the effective date bumped. Given the design — no servers, no collection — we expect it to stay boring.
